The first STEW was an amazing success - a few hiccups with the way reservations happened which we'll have smoothed out by next time, but beyond that, a great night of great food that raised a total of $700 for three amazing projects. The Baltimore Algebra Project received $350, which will support their ongoing work for social justice in the Baltimore public school system and beyond. We also had two proposals for new projects, and the dinner attendees voted to split the rest of the funds raised between these two equally, putting $175 each into Ryan Harvey and Mark Gunnery's Odonion Records project (a new worker owned record label committed to politically engaged cultural production), and the the Annex Theater Gallery (an extension of the already amazing Annex Theater). We'll have videos of all the presentations online soon.
In the meantime, check out this first round of photos of the evening:
And also check out the great coverage of the first STEW over at The Baltimore DIY Squad blog.
